Don Campbell combines a knowledge of the human
form, obtained from years of drawing, painting, and
sculpting,
with a professional understanding of the capabilities
and limitations of the sculptural methods he employs. In
addition to doing portrait and figurative sculpture.
Campbell has served the arts community of Western North
Carolina.
He
is past president of The Swannanoa Valley Fine Arts
League and has served on the Artists Grants Council of
the North Carolina Arts Alliance Round Table. He is a
member of the Tri State Sculptors, a professional
association of practicing sculptors. Campbell studied
art at the Rhode Island School of Design, The Richmond
Art Institute and the University of North Carolina at
Asheville. He also studied sculpture with the Russian
Master Vadim Bora. His sculpture and paintings have won
numerous awards and his work has been exhibited at
Tidewater Art Gallery in Norfolk, The Richmond Art
Institute, Pack Place Gallery in Asheville, and both The
Paint Spot Gallery and The Old Depot Arts & Crafts in
Black Mountain, NC as well as several exhibits of SVFAL
and others.
